Oh hai, LJ~!

I've been out of LJ for most of the time because I've been on Plurk, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, and my general blog, food blog and my crafting-oriented blog.  Oh and Google+ too. Ahaha.

If not for B who keeps on writing private posts, or some fandoms, I don't even log in.  But! I am keeping my LJ because this still has a lot of the stuff I'd like to remember from a long time ago ahaha.  And I still add some new people. Like mlina XD  I added her last night.

If you miss me too much, you know where to find me.  Online, that is.  A lot of you have added me on those sites as well and it's been fun keeping in touch.  (I know some of you don't post as often as you used to. But that's ok. Really. We all have lives!)  So yeah, I'm still around.  Dropping by at random intervals.  Just saying hi once again. :)

PS: The previous post was really just because I am paranoid that I might lose everything one day because LJ is acting crazy.

I want all the comments included. And I want to keep the private posts private.

Gawd I feel old in cons

As much as I love going to cons because I love seeing people cosplay, have fun, be themselves, etc. I can't help but feel ancient. Those kids in there are still in school. And some of them even have their parents with them. O_o Something I am still weirded out about because ever since my sister and I went to cons, mom was somewhere else and would just meet us after. Something like that.

So yeah, joining those games was really fun. I even won a mini plushie from the ring toss. But still, I see them as kids. ~_~ I know I am not the most mature 29 year old but still. Argh.

Sometimes I wonder if I should still go to cons like Mangaholix and stuff. I shouldn't let age stop me, right? But there are moments when I wonder if this is socially alright, etc. I get self-conscious.

Don't get me wrong though. I was glad to be at AME no Jidai. I think it was actually interesting and fun with the activities they had. It wasn't too crowded compared to Toy Con and Ozine's events. But it just felt better for some reason. And it wasn't as noisy as Mangaholix. Gosh, that con had bands and they knew how to be loud. But in AME no Jidai, they had music, some contests and even this dubbing thing. Haha. That was crazy. And I also loved some of the cosplays I saw. :)

I miss camp

This must be a weird post because it's suddenly me talking about missing camp. I guess I miss it a lot because it was something that I didn't expect that would change my perspective on a lot of things.

Before going to camp, I was hoping to get a better idea of what it's like to be open source advocates in other parts of the world. Reading about adventures and tales on the internet is not the same as talking with others personally. It gave me a different perspective of FOSS in the context of their work whether it's for schools, NGOs or their own business.

Almost everyone at camp has passion. Not just for FOSS but for life. They don't just talk about FOSS but they also partied and socialized. Probably not in the same mainstream clubbing way. But still, these folks knew how to have fun and share the fun.

In camp, not everything was perfect but the environment of learning and fun was there. Not everything went according to plan. I mean, we planned some activities before the actual camp started and it was interesting what deviations happened and how they happened and the results were ok. It was dynamic and I am not exactly the most dynamic person you know. So it was very much a learning experience from me.

Then I encounter those moments I wish the other facilitators, organizers and participants were around. Some of them would also laugh with me about certain things or go into an intense discussion about stuff. I know I also have those moments with my friends. But part of me wishes I could have more moments with them too.

And it's past 3 in the morning. This is the usual time I'd head back to my room to sleep. More or less. Especially in the last how many days of camp. It's not healthy, I know :P But it was just a lot of fun for me getting to know new people whose anecdotes just leave me wanting to hear more.

I miss Asia Source 3!

Those were crazy times. The entire day time was practically devoted to sessions and evenings were for partying as well as post-party laugh trips. It went by so fast! I am glad to have been invited by Cheekay and because of that I met so many awesome people from different countries.

Some of them I get to chat with over Facebook and YM. And because of the Asia Source 3 people, I've become active on Twitter again. But Plurk is still my main home online. It was fun tweeting with Cheekay and Mifan earlier. Allan even showed up for a bit on Twitter. But at least I get to talk with him and Jace over Facebook. Tomas seems quite busy too though. I follow Dom's plurks and looks like he's got some exciting happenings in Davao. At least Shane's on Facebook and Twitter. Plus I have her number. As for Yolynne, we know each other well enough that it's not difficult to keep in touch. Hehe. I get to chat with Sabila too. I just feel guilty if I disturb her at work.

Mornings would've been interesting if I was able to record Gunner's singing and use it as my alarm. Hahaha.

Where's Sam? I miss Sam too! And he's got some awesome pictures of Cheekay XD I wish I could link to them here but can't. He hasn't posted them online yet, I think.

And just a while back Cheekay and I were tweeting about the Asia Source 3 x Star Wars mash-up. Too bad it looks like most of the AS3 folks are offline. It would've been fun collaborating about it.

So yeah, I just really miss them a lot and this post is an evidence.

Cosplay, WeHeartIt, etc.

Looks like I'd finally push through with cosplaying Chibitalia soon. I already asked one of our neighbors to make me a blouse. Then I'd just buy an apron because the one I made is sucky. My skirt's wearable and I just need to make a white kerchief for my hair. Oh and a hair cut. My bangs are too long for Chibitalia's. ^^;

After that, I dunno. Maybe chibi Russia just so I could carry a bottle of vodka :P

My sister's the one who's been sewing more often. I want to make clothes I could wear even after a con so it will take a while before I decide which article of clothing to make. Good cloth must be bought too. Also, tops are harder to make compared to skirts. ~_~ Tops would require me to make more patterns and learn how to sew darts.

Thanks to miir, I have a new account somewhere else called WeHeartIt.com and I am gathering all sorts of pictures there to help me get inspired to write or plan a crafting session.

I am also trying to catch up with Merlin season 1. Castle is one of my must-watch series but JM is still busy so we can't watch it yet ~_~ Looks like we won't get to watch it together anytime soon.

I found some of my old fanfics online

Thanks to the Internet Archive. Too bad I can't unearth 2 of them. The Internet Archive doesn't have them :( Anyhow, I apparently wrote an Eva x Gundam crossover with Asuka and Duo as the main pairing. *lol* I wrote it for Joan back in college.

Makes me wonder how everyone at the NFTZu is right now.

A new LJ Layout must be made!

I've got the mood theme and user icons I like. Now I need to make a good header image XD *fufufufu* This is probably one of the things that make me happy today.

We're ok now

It was really rainy yesterday and there was a flood at home. We had to move the dogs in the house because the water was up to their feet in their dog house/cage already. Panda was reluctant to go with my uncle. He had the defensive pose so I had to get him and he immediately jumped on to me. Panda happens to hate water that much. Maya was taken either my uncle or stepdad. She's still a baby and she isn't as averse to water as Panda.

So yeah, we really had to move furniture up our rooms. But our elevated area isn't that high either so I was afraid that we were going to have to spend the night elsewhere. Mom got home late in the afternoon and she saw our things were up our rooms. Dang had to stay at Anna's. Good thing she was somehow able to get down from the bus at Shaw and took the train to Cubao. She tried to go home but it was much better that she got to sleep at Anna's.

We lost electrical power yesterday and it was a good thing my phone, and other gadgets were all fully charged. The signal was weak last night but I could still receive SMS and calls. Thankfully we have food in the house and there was no more flood in the evening. We slept at home.

So yeah, things are much better now. Sorry if I made you worry because of my Facebook updates. But it was really scary yesterday. I was already resigned to having my books getting flooded as long as I could keep my netbook and gadgets (phone and stuff) with me so I could get back to work with all my data and people could get in touch with me. I am just thankful we didn't have to evacuate to somewhere else.
